Who started it? Leather accessories company Perrin Paris was established in 1893. It has remained a family-run firm, with current chief executive, Michel Perrin, marking the fourth generation to look after the brand. The house recently invested millions in its own manufacturing plant, to ensure the quality of its products from start to finish.
Perrin, who was recently in Hong Kong to launch the brand's outlet at Harvey Nichols, says, 'Our handbags and gloves are appreciated by a woman who knows her style, what is unique about it, and about herself.'
Why we love it: integrating the finest quality leather with exquisite craftsmanship, we love that this much-storied house continues to be relevant. Mixing exotic leathers, the design ethos focuses on the cut and feel of the products as much as it does the colour and print. The gloves have a restrained, timeless elegance. The bags are contemporary with a minimalist aesthetic.
What we'd pick: the Menotte eel clutch bag (near right; HK$13,000) would make an elegant day bag but more practical is the Attelage Gibeciere black goat leather bag (far right; HK$12,000). The Prends Moi Vernis Cafe au Lait clutch bag (below right; HK$8,500) is a fun accessory that would match any outfit.
Where can you get it? Perrin Paris is available at Harvey Nichols, Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 3968 2668.
