Tea off with style

French designer Fabienne Jouvin creates hand-painted, porcelain objets d'art, fusing Western and Eastern influences taken from her travels. Her one-off pieces range from ginger jars to plates, as well as these stylish tea canisters. At these prices, however, they are definitely for the mum that loves art for art's sake rather than any practical purpose. From HK$750 at Sidewalk, 4-6 Gough Street, Central, tel: 2850 7121

Luxury lounging

Bedding company Sleep Naked promises to bring five-star luxury into the home and, with The Dorchester and Claridge's hotels in London among its clients, it must be doing something right. A luxurious 100 per cent cotton towelling robe might give mum the incentive to lounge a bit longer in the morning instead of attending to the day's duties. Or at least long enough to enjoy a cup of tea next Sunday morning. HK$515 from sleepnaked.net

Bag one of these

Kate Spade does urban chic well with a new selection of handbags for the mum about town. It includes Florence Broadhurst graphic prints and the signature Spade Leather Brianne, made from quilted leather and with a long strap. Available in acid yellow or Adriatic blue. HK$2,500 at Kate Spade, shop 1042, First Level, Elements, Kowloon, tel: 2196 8499

That's a wrap

Wrap bracelets are a big trend this year and young jewellery company Boho Betty has a great range made with leather and beads that would look good on any mum's wrist. The collection includes the Sea Jade wrap, featuring pale blue jade balls that will always be in fashion. Available as a quad or with a double or single strand. HK$400 (quad) from boho-betty.com

Lovely bubbly

Most mums appreciate a touch of indulgent 'me time' and the spa at the Mandarin Oriental has a host of packages to choose from. Mummy-me-Time includes a 40-minute, pre-treatment dip in the hot tub before the main event of either a massage or facial. The treatment can be taken alone or as a mother-daughter package and includes a half bottle of champagne and chocolates. Alternatively, its Yummy Mummy package includes a hair and scalp treatment and mini-manicure at the Mandarin Salon. From HK$990 and HK$1,175 respectively at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, 5 Connaught Road, Central, tel: 2522 0111
