The 81-year-old Australian-born media tycoon was deemed unfit to lead a major global company, in a report by a British parliamentary panel investigating phone hacking at newspapers owned by his company, News Corporation. 'For all of us - myself in particular - it is difficult to read many of the report's findings,' Murdoch told staff of his British newspaper arm. News Corporation called the report 'unjustified and highly partisan'.

The finance-sector lawmaker, who is also the chairman and chief executive of the Bank of East Asia, faces prosecution for not removing an illegal structure at a property he owns on The Peak. The Buildings Department issued a demolition order for the rooftop structure in February last year but a recent inspection showed it was still there - despite Li's telling reporters last month that he would remove it.

The 12-year-old Dutch schoolboy was released on Thursday after his parents apparently paid a ransom to kidnappers, who abducted him as he walked to the Mount Kiara International School in an upmarket suburb near Kuala Lumpur six days previously. Police said the 'traumatised' boy was found by his family on the edge of a highway north of the Malaysian capital after he called them on a mobile phone left by the kidnappers.
