Four-year-old Jade Pins got the bob of the heads and finally broke through at his 11th start to win the Class Five Over 1,800m, and the turnaround has come with a change of footwear. Jade Pins (Derek Leung Ka-chun) had been backed and beaten in his first couple of runs after dropping to Class Five but he held off the late finish of Surrounded (Olivier Doleuze) to score following a second at his previous start that advertised he was close to turning things around. 'Shoeing is the key to him. The farrier, Brad Porter, has put a different shoe - called a wide web shoe - on him lately, his last two starts, and that has given him more protection and made the difference in the results,' said trainer Paul O'Sullivan.
