Saddle up for a fun day out for the whole family
If you have not yet decided how to celebrate Mother's Day, why not take the family for a fun day out with some horses?
On Sunday, Tuen Mun Public Riding School will hold an Open Day when everyone can get up close and personal with some horse friends.
Visitors can see the stables and feeding rooms and watch horse care demonstrations by farriers (who look after hoofs) and grooms.
Horse-riding sessions are available for children aged six to 15. But remember you must wear flat-soled shoes if you want to ride.
The Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) will be demonstrating riding exercises. Those who make a donation to the RDA can have their photos taken with the adorable Shetland ponies.
Riders from the Hong Kong Jockey Club's four riding schools will show off their skills in three fun challenges. There is an inter-riding school jumping challenge where elite riders will be competing for titles. Another jumping competition, the puissance (or high jump) challenge, will test the riders' ability to co-operate with their horses.
Trainees from the club's Apprentice Jockeys' School will also engage in exciting races and games with the riding school instructors.
There will also be several game booths, bouncing castles and equestrian-related display panels.
All participants can register for events on the day and entry is on a first-come, first-served basis.
