Mainland property prices were under pressure in the first quarter, according to Knight Frank. The average price for Shanghai's luxury homes fell to 48,660 yuan (HK$60,000) per square metre, but the average monthly rent rose 3.5 per, cent quarter on quarter, to 171 yuan per square metre. Guangzhou's rents rose 2 per cent, though prices weakened. However, prices and rents fell in Beijing.
