Douglas Whyte only has rides in seven of the 10 races, but two hot favourites should ensure he salutes at short odds in the Jockey Challenge.
Whyte was $1.70 in early markets, about the same quote Why Not will go around in the Class Four fifth after two solid fourths.
Military Attack is another Whyte ride, his last for the day, who will start top choice, coming off a Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Derby campaign and a decent runner-up effort at Happy Valley.
Whyte's day doesn't start until race three, when he pilots the Dennis Yip Chor-hung-trained Simple, who was disappointing last start as favourite. He has drawn well and can bounce back on a one-week back-up.
All of Whyte's other rides will be single figures, Bothers In Arms is looking for back-to-back Class Five wins and has drawn three, and he takes over from Keith Yeung Ming-lun on Almond Lee's Clement Spirit.
The South African's other two rides - Lucky Chevalier and Radiomareli - have been costly but look ready to win.
