Artistic opportunity for best in show

Aspiring young artists could see their work exhibited in a gallery in Central if their school is shortlisted in a contest hosted by the Sovereign Art Foundation.

The Sovereign Art Foundation is a charity that raises funds for disadvantaged children and uses art as a tool for rehabilitation, education and therapy. Since 2003, the charity has held the annual Asian Art Prize, the region's largest art award. With a grand prize of US$25,000, it regularly attracts more than 2,000 submissions.

The charity is now launching the Pacsafe Schools Prize - its first award targeted at secondary school students.

Each school can submit one piece of art by one student. Entries must be two-dimensional works, such as photographs, paintings or mixed-media, no larger than 150cm by 150cm and 5cm deep.

Thirty finalists will have their works exhibited. The best work will win a grand prize of HK$5,000 for the artist and HK$50,000 for the winner's school to fund art-related projects.

Applications close on June 30. E-mail [email protected] for entry forms
