Kenneth Fok's mum confirms wedding bells for her son and Olympic diving champion Guo Jingjing
Another eligible bachelor is about to be struck off the list, and this time we saw it coming. Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, son of Hong Kong Olympic chief Timothy Fok Tsun-ting, will marry Olympic diving champion Guo Jingjing before year's end.
The younger Fok's mother, Loletta Chu Ling-ling, confirmed the marriage on Saturday at the Wai Yin Association's 30th anniversary charity ball at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Wan Chai.
The couple have been dating for about seven years but have never confirmed rumours that they planned to tie the knot, although they have made more public appearances together recently.
Chu, a former Miss Hong Kong and long-time member of the association of Miss Hong Kong contestants, confirmed the rumour when asked at the ball.
'Yes, it's true,' she said. 'They will announce the exact date themselves, but it will be within this year. He [Kenneth] might disclose more details later, but even if he doesn't you will know when guests start receiving their invites to the banquet. It won't be such a big secret.'
At the gala, Chu was joined by other former Miss Hong Kongs, including Angie Chiu Ngar-chi and Ellen Wong. Veteran singer Sally Yeh performed for guests.
The association raised funds to benefit charities and organisations dedicated to promoting health and wellness. Title sponsor, jeweller and watchmaker Piaget, made a HK$500,000 donation to the cause.
