According to a recent announcement from global property consultancy Knight Frank, Hong Kong now boasts the most expensive prime office space in the world, with rates higher than those in London or in Tokyo.

The newly released figures calculate Grade A rents in Central at HK$1,046 per square metre. One could be forgiven for thinking this might discourage potential leaseholders and scare off current occupants, but this is Central, where new openings and launches happen on a weekly basis.

Compass Offices' latest location in World Wide House is one of the new Central additions, and their flexible pricing plans address the escalating rents directly with long- and short-term contracts designed to appeal to entrepreneurs and cost-minded businessmen alike.

The new centre is one of a handful of buildings with easy access to the Central Escalator - reputedly the world's longest - which provides instant access to the subway network, the Airport Express railway station, and the SoHo restaurant district.

The serviced office spaces provide clients with dedicated reception, secretarial and concierge services, and communal areas to ensure a lasting professional impression on visitors. There are also well-equipped meeting and boardrooms available for rent by the hour by both Compass Offices clients and outsiders.

Clients, however, have the added benefit of virtual 'floating' office services, including dedicated business phone lines and mailing addresses, plus the option of joining the Compass Offices Virtual Office global network.

Another venue not put off by escalating rents is stylish dining destination Se Sa Me, located in the trendy L Place and frequented by attractive young professionals.

Open for lunch and dinner, the kitchen serves up mostly bite-sized 'Japanasian' dishes, which are perfect for sharing over team discussions or informal client meetings. The 6,000-square-foot space features naturalistic wood and stone elements. There is also a large partitioned VIP room at the front, which is ideal for private functions or formal board meetings.
