If you're younger than 30 this ode to the 1970s won't mean much to you, even if you're the type who scours flea markets for 'vintage' tat. Julie Taylor has a flashback of sorts when surrounded by technology used to keep a friend's young grandchildren entertained, including a Wii console, 3-D television and animated film. That prompts memories of playing Frisbee in a 'proper park', with dolls that would say things such as 'I love you Mummy' when a voice-activated cord was pulled, and on a space hopper (orange, of course, like so much in that decade). If none of that means anything to you then there's no point in continuing this Kindle Single. But if these things induce nostalgia, you will love being prompted to remember the Etch A Sketch, Tupperware and Avon cosmetics, and how Dunlop was tops for trainers. Then there was the Chopper bicycle, about which Taylor writes: 'I loved [it] more than anything else I have ever owned before or since...' While making you feel old, We Love the 70s will also force a smile the next time you see a Spirograph or hear someone exclaim 'blooming heck'.
