With 5,000 booths and an exhibition area of 125,000 square metres, the 11th China International Consumer Goods Fair (CICGF) will be one of China's largest foreign trade fairs and one of its four largest import and export events.

More than 50,000 products will be displayed to about 70,000 visitors, including 20,000 buyers from outside the country.

Sponsored by China's Ministry of Commerce and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, the CICGF will be held at the Ningbo International Conference and Exhibition Centre from June 8 to 11. Exhibits will cover four main categories: home appliances and electronics; textiles and garments; sports and recreational products; and household articles and gifts. The latter category will be the largest, comprising more than one-half of all the booths.

According to the organising committee, more than 2,800 companies from the mainland and abroad have registered for the fair. The international pavilion will house hundreds of exhibitors, including some from Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Taiwan and Thailand.

'We hope to stand out among competitors from home and abroad with innovative products that have high added value rather than relying on price leverage to boost trade,' says Ding Haibin, deputy director of the Ningbo Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation Bureau.

'We welcome buyers to dig for more high-quality products at the CICGF. I am confident that foreign investors will be interested in partnering Ningbo companies after they attend the fair and see their high-quality and innovative commodities.'

Ding also notes that many exhibiting enterprises from the Yangtze River Delta are within easy driving distance from Ningbo, making it much easier for buyers to visit their factories.

The organiser has been striving to provide better service for overseas buyers. Free shuttle buses will be available between Shanghai and Ningbo. Free English, German and Japanese volunteer interpreters will also be available.

Over the past decade, the CICGF has attracted more than 10,000 exhibitors from 30 provinces and municipalities on the mainland, plus 120,000 buyers from 110 countries and regions.
