Boys are generally good at science, and bad at words - says who? Five boys from La Salle College proved that stereotype wrong, winning the Battle of Books inter-school contest last Thursday.

The group of Form Three students defeated other mixed squads, including three-time champion St Mark's School.

Teams are required to finish 12 books and are then quizzed on the content during the tournament.

The La Salle team's strategy was to assign each member five different books to read so they could absorb the stories better. They would meet on weekends at team captain Anselm Au's home to prepare for the competition.
