Hand creams

Fresh Brown Sugar Hand Cream, HK$190/75ml

Claim: contains brown sugar, which Fresh calls a natural antiseptic with moisture-preserving properties. A blend of evening primrose, sweet almond, apricot kernel and jojoba oils nourishes the skin, as do Shea butter and vitamin E.

StriVectin-SD Volumizing Hand Treatment, HK$305/60ml

Claim: quotes clinical age-defying results, including firmer, brighter, plumper skin and more even skintone, as well as a moisturising effect.

Wei Noto Ginseng Repairing Hand Cream, HK$130/42ml, at Joyce Beauty

Claim: a formula containing notoginseng, used in traditional Chinese medicine for its repairing qualities, soothes irritated skin and protects hands. Also contains ginger to improve the skin's circulation

Verdict: Fresh's cream has a pleasing citrusy scent. Its lightweight formula is absorbed easily, providing lasting hydration. Wei's also has a pleasant natural smell, leaving hands silky rather than sticky. StriVectin is known for its high-performance products, but we didn't see a significant difference between this and the other two. It seems somewhat overqualified (and extravagant) for a cream that's only likely to last until the next hand wash.
