The Jockey Club's overseas simulcasts have been a growth area this season and continue to move onwards and upwards, turnover-wise, with the Yasuda Kinen and the six-race offering from Epsom Downs on Saturday returning better figures than a year ago. The Yasuda Kinen hold rose by $1.7 million to just under $26 million, while the Epsom Derby simulcast grew the best part of $5 million to almost $99 million handled on the six events, despite the odds-on favourite Camelot and a small field in the Derby stifling betting. It was a good day overall, with a gain on some $26 million on the local programme over the June 5 meeting a year ago, and Triple Trio players lucked out but will have a carryover of more than $27 million to tackle on Saturday.
