Local rider Eddy Lai Wai-ming and trainer Gary Ng Ting-keung have had something in common all season - finding winners has been like finding hens' teeth but they both burst into double figures yesterday. Ng is having his worst season since he saddled up 12 winners 16 years ago, while Lai's 10 victories now equals his worst recent season in 2004-05. The plain-as-day five-year-old, Kingston Spartacus was the horse to take them both to 10 wins, grinding out the third victory of his career - and second for the term - in the HKU Faculty Of Medicine Handicap (1,800m) to provide a much needed tonic. But for Ng there is still work to do as he chases the 13 victories that will excuse him from a letter to Licensing about his performance.
