Bricks crash onto roof of Joey Yung's minivan
Canto-pop singer Joey Yung Cho-yee had a lucky escape when two bricks smashed through the glass roof of her minivan yesterday.
The black Alphard minivan, with the personalised number plate 'JY', was parked outside Yung's home in Happy Valley when the two bricks fell from the balcony of a second floor apartment.
Yung was due to get into the van moments later. Her 31-year-old driver, who was in the van at the time, was not injured. The bricks are thought to have fallen from a second-floor balcony.
A police spokesman said there would be no further investigation.
The singer wrote on her Facebook page: 'I was about to leave home for work this morning. When the car arrived, two bricks fell down and broke through the glass roof.
'Luckily, there was a sunscreen to stop [the bricks and glass fragments entering the seating area]. The driver was unhurt, but we were shocked.'
A spokesman for the singer's management company, Emperor Entertainment Group, said the singer took a taxi from Stubbs Road, where she shares a flat with her mother, to a studio where she was filming an advertisement. The seven-seater vehicle was taken away for repairs.
It's not the first time Yung has been in a scrape.
In 2000, she ended up in hospital after a television in her bedroom overheated, sparking a fire that destroyed her flat and forced the evacuation of 100 people.
Yung shot to fame after winning talent contests and released her first single, Unknown, in 1999.
