The curious traveller will always want to try the local cuisine of the country they are visiting. Finding a restaurant that serves up a good example of local fare, however, can be a challenge.
Leading travel site TripAdvisor has randomly chosen five major cities in the region, with recommendations from their travellers of the top local restaurants with their overall ranking in the city.
Singapore
Straits Kitchen (ranked ninth of 20 restaurants in Singapore), 10 Scotts Road Grand Hyatt, Singapore 228211.
According to a TripAdvisor traveller, 'any time we are in Singapore, we stop at least for one meal at this lovely and very busy restaurant'.
Bali
Kendi Kuning Restaurant (ranked 25th of 222 restaurants in Bali), Jl. Segara Samuh, Nusa Dua, Bali 80368, Indonesia.
According to a TripAdvisor traveller, 'this restaurant is absolutely amazing and should be on every visitor's list'.
Bangkok
The Rain Tree Cafe (ranked seventh of 84 restaurants in Bangkok), Plaza Athenee Bangkok, Royal Meridien Hotel, 61 Thanon Witthayu (Wireless Road), Lumphini, Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330, Thailand.
