Exhibition duo make a date with the dolls

The LCX X Maysum Backstage Exhibition at Harbour City comprises a mock backstage area with make-up mirrors and clothing racks to showcase the many talents of make-up artist May Sum.

Among the items on display are her Subi Mcdolls and lipstick sculptures inspired by art, lifestyle and, apparently, cats.

Sum attended the opening on Tuesday with singer Stephanie Cheng Yung. Cheng arrived in red, glittering lipstick, and took a moment to write 'Love yourself!' and 'Everyday is beautiful' on a cardboard cut-out under the heading 'Love Your Lips'.

Sum and Cheng posed with the one oversized doll among the collection of smaller dolls on display, each revealing a different fashion aesthetic. 'The full name of the dolls is actually McQueen dolls - from Alexander McQueen,' Sum said. 'I have a lot of ideas which have been inspired from his collections. So I wanted to use his name as a tribute to him ... but each doll is inspired by a different fashion designer.'

The exhibition runs until July 3.
