Coroner takes case of boy, four, who died in hospital

The coroner is investigating the death of a four-year-old boy at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on Monday, a day after being admitted. Tissue tests have confirmed the boy, who had a good health history and had not travelled recently, was infected with the contagious intestinal bug enterovirus, the first fatal case this year. The boy attended the Hong Kong and Kowloon Kaifong Women's Association Wan Tsui Kindergarten in Wan Chai, where he lived.

Man perished after he and wife tossed into sea

The body of a 61-year-old man, who was thrown into the sea with his wife when their sampan capsized off Lantau on Sunday while they were fishing, was found by divers off Kwai Shek at about 11am yesterday. The man's 58-year-old wife was rescued by a passing boat on Sunday, but her husband had disappeared.

Licence suspension for hawkers who break rules

Hawkers would have their licence suspended after committing three offences, health chief Dr York Chow Yat-ngok said, after a public protest that the initial proposal that licences be revoked was too harsh a penalty.
