Woman raped after fall in playground; man arrested

A woman was raped after falling unconscious in a playground as she drank beer while on prescribed medication.

Her attacker dragged the 38-year-old saleswoman onto a trolley and wheeled her along a covered walkway to a refuse collection point, where police found her semi-naked and still unconscious.

The woman came round in Queen Mary Hospital, where she was being cared for last night.

A security guard raised the alarm at about 10.45pm on Thursday after finding the victim and a naked man in the covered walkway outside Ka Lung Court, off Tin Wan Praya Road, Pok Fu Lam.

An officer said: 'The man told the guard that she was his girlfriend and she felt unwell before he put on his clothes and fled on foot.'

Officers later arrested a 28-year-old delivery man at the Wah Kwai Estate shopping centre, just 200 metres from the scene of the crime.

Police said the woman was being treated for depression and had taken the medicine at home before going out for some air and a beer.

The alleged attacker, who yesterday accompanied police as they searched his home on the Wah Fu Estate, was last night being questioned at Western police station.

Southern district councillor Ada Mak Tse How-ling said it was an isolated case and there was no other report of sex attackers in the area this year.

She said law and order in the area, which has a population of more than 10,000, was good.
