The goods

Sole mates

Outside of jeans, denim clothing is an acquired taste. Sergio Rossi, however, has created a rather fetching denim lace-up shoe with a bright yellow rubber sole (left; HK$5,070). Just make sure you wear them with chinos -- do not commit the cardinal sin of Double Denim. If that's a step too far, the bi-colour leather lace-up brogue (above; HK$6,710) is a pleasing compromise. Sergio Rossi is in Pacific Place, tel: 2918 0872.

Fun in the sun

If you can't get to Tuscany this year, why not pretend otherwise, with a summer ensemble from Salvatore Ferragamo of khaki jacket (HK$15,900) and trousers (HK$5,200) along with the white shirt (HK$4,500) and brown shoes (all above right; HK$2,850). Too much khaki? Try a dash more colour with a green linen jacket (HK$15,500), off-white trousers (HK$3,950), patterned lace-up shoes (HK$7,300) and knit top (all above left; HK$7,950). Salvatore Ferragamo is in Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2845 2718.

Anyone's game

British brand Paul Smith catches the Olympic spirit with a humorous T-shirt (above left; HK$850) showing a hurdler jumping a zebra. For the more sports-averse, there's the lovely blended blue and white polo shirt (above; HK$1,690). Paul Smith is in The Landmark, Central, tel: 2523 5868.

Leather works

Valentino Men's latest line of leather goods includes tastefully understated leather clutch bags (top; HK$6,300 each) in green, black and navy blue. If that's too safe, there is the wonderfully zany briefcase bag (above right; HK$8,800), which comes with a variety of coloured buckle options and is sure to get you noticed. Valentino Men is available at Harvey Nichols, The Landmark, tel: 3695 3389.
