W hotel's Woobar rocks its debut by rolling in the stars

The W hotel has traded in its sixth-floor Living Room lounge for WooBar, which opened with a big bang on Friday night when legendary photographer Mick Rock and Beijing-based rock band Queen Sea Big Shark flew in for the party.

The British photographer, who has snapped celebrities ranging from David Bowie and Iggy Pop to Lady Gaga, unveiled an exhibition titled 'Rocked', which featured never-seen-before images of Gaga and U2 frontman Bono, among others. The portraits will adorn the walls of WooBar until September.

Guests spilled in thanks to the open bar and uplifting beats by New York DJ Lincoln Medley.

Rock, who had photographed Queen Sea Big Shark in the past, said he was a big fan, and called lead singer and keyboardist Fu Han a talented performer.

'It's the first time I've been to Hong Kong and I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be at this moment but right here with you,' Rock told guests.

The crowd partied up a storm when the rock band - including Fu, who had bright-red hair, neon-orange eyeshadow and a Lady Gaga-like outfit - took the stage.
