TVB actors Wong Cho-lam, Cindy Au Sin-yee and Leila Kong, have been appointed ambassadors of Plan International Hong Kong and recently visited Chunhua county, Shaanxi province, to meet beneficiaries of the charity for impoverished children.

The stars shared their experiences of the visit on Tuesday at The Mira hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui.

'Given the opportunity, those children could really unleash their potential,' Wong said. 'I learned so much from the visit. I hope I can continue to bring happiness and laughter to the community, but of course, to be able to do that we need more support from the public.'

Kong, herself a mother, was especially moved by the orphans she met in a remote village. 'What upset me the most is that the children dare not to dream because of poverty and a lack of resources. I hope our visit can raise awareness to the cause. Our help could really change their future for the better,' she said.

Plan International has been working in Shaanxi since 1999 and has supported the education and welfare of more than 6,500 underprivileged children.
