Doctor of Hotel and Tourism Management PolyU

The Doctor of Hotel and Tourism Management offered by the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) aims to train hospitality industry executives to excel in a volatile business environment.

The programme leader, Assistant Professor Henry Tsai, says the course is designed to cater to the needs of senior industry executives, top staff in governmental and non-governmental tourism organisations, and academics seeking a professional doctorate in hotel and tourism management.

'We have a diversified student profile and examples of their professional backgrounds include CEO, hotel general manager, consultant, banker, entrepreneur, government officials, lawyer, and tertiary education lecturers on hotels,' says Tai.

Learning methods are participant-centred, with an emphasis on experiential exercises, seminars and self-guided study. Individual subjects are designed to focus on innovation, creativity and the development of research skills, all in an Asian context.
