Le Metier de Beaute Creme Fresh Tint, Ginger Lily, available at Joyce Beauty HK$310 (5 grams)

Claim: an advanced waterproof formula that sinks into the skin, leaving a natural radiant glow instead of a sticky residue.

MAC, Casual Color, HK$180/13ml

Claim: a versatile limited-edition all-in-one colour tint. Lightweight and creamy, easy to blend. Contains vitamin E to nourish skin on cheeks and lips.

Rouge d'Armani sheers 505 - Dewy, HK$250 (3.8 grams)

Claim: Armani's latest line of multipurpose shades. Translucent emollients coat colour pigments to create a natural, 'lacquered' surface for both lips and cheeks. Rich and moisturising, but not sticky.

Verdict: MAC's Casual Color is too highly pigmented to wear on cheeks without feeling 'painted'. It works best on lips as a matt stain, though it's less moisturising than the others and looks better when applied with a brush. Le Metier de Beaute's Ginger Lily is a universally flattering peach shade. It's soft enough to pat gently onto cheeks, creating a lasting natural glow, though it's a little too subtle for lips. Armani's new sheers are the top performers in terms of the 'all-in-one' promise: they look like a regular lipstick but can be blended on to cheeks, giving a modern, glassy shine. Dewy is a pretty pink shade that lasts most of the day on the cheeks and a few hours on the lips.
