This week we test: fragrance for guys

Joyee Chan

Your choice of fragrance says a lot about you -and yes, boys, this means you, too. We test some of the newest scents around this summer.

9/10

Scuderia Ferrari Eau De Toilette (HK$320/40ml)

Who knew a sports car company could make such a great-smelling cologne? Rather than smelling like diesel oil or burnt rubber, the fragrance is light, yet fruity, with a definite dose of the Lynx Effect.

6/10

Mandarina Duck Blue Eau de Toilette (HK$298/ 50ml)

It has some fruity elements, but overall it's a little too harsh and overpowering to make you want to wear it.

8/10

Diesel Only the Brave Tattoo (HK$510/ 75ml)

The 'iron-fist' bottle is macho and very unusual, and the scent smells handsomely elegant. It's a bit high-end though - I don't think I could wear it to work every day with my alpaca T-shirt, say.

7/10

Biotherm Homme Force Fragrance (HK$400/ 100ml)

The smell isn't too strong, yet is quite refreshing. It comes in a cool metallic bottle that looks like a lightsaber handle - surely every guy wants one of those.

8/10

Giorgio Armani Code Sport Athlete (HK$515/ 75ml)

A refreshing scent with hints of citrus and ginger make this a light enough fragrance to use daily. A bit pricey, though.
