Sportster steals show at Fendi's celebration of Italian design

Fans of Italian design were treated to fashion label Fendi's 'The Whispered Italian Grand Tour' at The Landmark building on Thursday.

The event was held to celebrate the grand opening of its new menswear shop. As part of the celebration, the label displayed an impressive collection of Italian design, all of which features in Fendi's book The Whispered Directory of Craftsmanship.

Fendi's Maserati GranCabrio was the star of the evening, judging by the attention it got from the guests. The car was glittering with its unique, golden sheen paint job. And it threatened to distract attention from the other exhibits, which were exceptional for all sorts of reasons.

For instance, the umbrellas handmade by Mario Talarico and Company were especially classy.

The same could not be said for another exhibit, the blurb for which assured guests that they could proudly wear fur so long as it was vintage, since it was too late to save the animals involved anyway.

It must be said that the canapes on offer were exceptional. A small crowd was following the parmesan and risotto mini-sandwich waiter around, although the bite-sized portions of spaghetti and red sauce were a tad impractical.
