Local chef Margaret Xu Yuan - famous for combining art with her cooking - hopes to contribute to Hong Kong culture with a look at the past through food and tableware.

Xu is showing her own collection of traditional cooking items and some of her art pieces related to tableware at an exhibition at Citywalk, in Tsuen Wan.

Besides cooking, collecting tableware is a hobby for Xu. She now has more than 100 collections, and has 10 of them on display as part of the exhibition.

Visitors are able to look at traditional Chinese tableware, such as a rooster bowl, blue flower bowl, double happiness plate, iron rice pot and iron kettle.

More than just a cook, Xu is an excellent artist with outstanding skills in photography and painting.

She's also showing her food-art photos, and bowls and plates with her artwork. Xu has drawn pictures of roosters and fish, which are key elements of traditional Chinese tableware.

The exhibition is on from now until September 2 at Shop 126, 1/F Citywalk Gallery, Citywalk, Tsuen Wan.

It is open daily from 10am to 10pm. Admission is free.
