Some of Hong Kong cinema's renowned personalities flew to Paris for the Hong Kong in Focus programme at this year's Paris Cinema International Film Festival.

On Tuesday night, they gathered for a stellar cocktail event at the Paris Shangri-La hotel.

Guests included veteran action choreographer Yuen Woo-ping, of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fame, award-winning actress Wai Ying-hung, and New Wave filmmakers Allen Fong Yuk-ping and Johnnie To Kei-fung. To also hosted a master class during the Forum des Images in Paris on Sunday.

Aspiring Hong Kong film directors such as Heiward Mak Hei-yan and Jessey Tsang Tsui-shan mingled with French cinema icons such as Olivier Assayas and actress Charlotte Rampling, who's been chairing the festival since 2006.

'We are thrilled to see so many prominent figures showing their support for Hong Kong and its cinema. This has been a wonderful opportunity to show that Hong Kong cinema is alive and kicking,' said Roger Garcia, executive director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society.

The Hong Kong in Focus programme, which ends on Tuesday, features more than 80 classic titles dating from 1948 to the present.
