Green groups criticised police for wasting tonnes of water to fill plastic barriers during Hu Jintao's visit to Hong Kong:
Cindy Cheung - Why am I not surprised? The Hong Kong government hardly ever sets a good example of conservation.
Jessie Tong - There was a visiting head of state, and there were militant demonstrators. The police were right to do their best to protect a visitor. The greens should regard people's lives as more important than their beliefs. We would not have wanted an accident to happen to this visitor.
Patrick Shu Wing-lee - Such barriers are not only a waste of valuable water and other resources, but also an eyesore and a mockery of democracy.
Philip Ho - It is a complete waste of public money. There was no justification for using such huge quantities of fresh water just for the sake of security.

The percentage of women in corporate positions in HK is still behind economies in Europe:
Yin Chi-chan - There is a traditional belief that woman are responsible for the home and men just have to bring home the dough. Many working mothers feel like they alone are paying for the domestic helper (as a substitute to their home commitment) rather than it being a joint investment for the entire family. This doesn't help the fact that there are already few chances for women to advance up the corporate ladder.
Harminder Singh - I fear that forcing corporations to put women into higher corporate positions could mean that the best person isn't being hired for the job. There are legal avenues women can pursue if they feel that they have been discriminated against due to their gender.
