Stuck on a tune

Boxes are a constant source of entertainment for young children and one mum turned her daughter's combined love of old packaging and stickers into a booming business. Box Play creates stickers to fit empty packaging from cereal and milk cartons to egg boxes and kitchen roll tubes, and the cool designs may be all the encouragement a child needs to recycle. The range includes piano keyboards, rocket ships, and animals, as well as letter charts, Asian-inspired images and instruments. The stickers are made using recycled, uncoated paper so children can add their own designs too. Box Play from HK$45 to HK$145 at Tiny Footprints, 10/F, 1 Duddell Street, Central, tel: 2522 2466

Get into the rhythm

Castanets and bells are all budding little percussionists need to rattle up a rhythm. Chunky enough for little hands, the wooden castanets come as a set of two, so tots can really get to grips with their clicks. The bells are sold individually. HK$25 (castanets) and HK$45 (bells) at Mirth, 23 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Mezzanine Floor, Yip Kan Street, Wong Chuk Hang, tel: 2553 9811

All together now

A new range of instruments from Italian wooden toy maker Sevi has arrived in Hong Kong. Bold colours and animal characters are a running theme so children can build their own mini orchestra in perfect harmony. New arrivals include a miniature piano, frog xylophone and a drum set and stand with two drums, two cymbals and a triangle, plus drumsticks. The paints are non-toxic. HK$880 at Jellybean, shop A, 138 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, tel: 2572 8600

Toe-tapping threads

Strum your little rocker's strings with this guitar print pyjama set. Lightweight for summer, the cotton set is part of the 1950s-inspired summer collection called Baby K and is designed by British media personality, Myleene Klass. The collection includes other guitar-motif pieces such as shirts and socks. HK$220 at Mothercare, 305-307 Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2627 0035
