Zac Purton and Brett Prebble finished level for the day's racing, but that gave Purton second place to Douglas Whyte in the jockeys' championship after a tight battle in recent meetings between the pair. Purton took his advantage to two after he won on Africa Light in the fourth, while Prebble replied later with Silver Grecian, so the one-win margin remained. 'I came here thinking I had plenty of bullets to fire today but most of them landed in the wrong place,' said Purton. 'Brett and I have had a good battle and it's probably kept me a bit more focused in the final meetings. Brett had an injury during the season and a few suspensions, so I'm sure he'll come roaring back at me next year.'
