Porsche Design opened its flagship store in Hong Kong at the Entertainment Building in Central, marking another milestone in the company's endeavour to export its fine German design to the world.

Porsche Design Group chief executive Juergen Gessler flew from Germany to greet dozens of guests in the 1,590 sq ft store on Queen's Road Central.

'Hong Kong is Asia's luxury hub. We opened our first store at Ocean Centre. This time we're bringing Porsche Design right to the centre of Hong Kong,' Gessler said.

'Does anyone have a black watch on their wrist?' he asked the crowd, before telling a story about Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the late Porsche designer, whose revolutionary watch design was a favourite with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

'Look at the back of the iMac and MacBook, I believe the watch's titanium construction might have actually inspired Mr Jobs.'

The night ended with a fashion show displaying the brand's collection for men and women.

Actor Michael Wong donned a leather jacket and entertained guests with his jazz band, while models Carrie Lam, Jessica Cambensy and Zelia Zhong wooed the crowd with the brand's new collection.
