Calling all comic fans
YP Cadet Candace Kwan
The 14th Ani-com & Game Hong Kong Fair (ACGHK) opens tomorrow and runs until July 31 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It will feature 170 exhibitors in more than 500 booths.
The ACGHK is the ultimate gathering for animation, cartoon and games fans. The Masters' Autograph Session is an opportunity to interact with famous comic masters, designers and artists, such as Asian Lego model designer Kazuyoshi Naoe. Pop stars Fudanjuku, Tamaki Nami and Kawano Marina will also be there. Cosplay teams from the mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan have been invited to the Cosplay Carnival.
In a nod to the past, the Independent Comic Artists' Exhibition, Scenery of Life, features 15 local and mainland caricaturists and displays the experiences of living in alternative eras and environments.
There is also a Comics New Star Competition for less-seasoned artists to display their work.
The fair used to be a fiesta for traders of limited edition toys and products but this year the organisers have banned the sale of limited items at the venue. Die-hard fans will have to order online and collect their goodies at the fair. Organisers said the fair promotes local animation and game culture and they do not want it to become a platform for traders.
Entrance tickets, at HK$30 each, can be purchased at convenience stores (7-Eleven and OK) or at the venue.
