Newport
The Newport Folk Festival wraps up today at Rhode Island's Fort Adams State Park. This year's event featured huge acts such as My Morning Jacket, Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst, and Iron & Wine. Other notable acts included the much-hyped Alabama Shakes (pictured) and the Guthrie Family Reunion (yes, that Guthrie). This festival is one of America's most historically significant - it is where Bob Dylan first went electric in 1965.
Katowice
Feeding Poland's growing reputation as a music festival destination, The Off Festival kicks off this Friday and continues through the weekend. Performers run the gamut from elder statesmen such as Iggy and the Stooges (pictured) and Pavement's Stephen Malkmus, to contemporary favourites Mazzy Star and up-and-coming acts including Ty Segall, and Shabazz Palaces.
Saint Petersburg
The Mikhailovsky Theatre broadcasted an updated ballet production of Don Quixote last week, as part of a series of live internet broadcasts of its best shows. The leads Kitri, Basil and the Queen of the Dryads were played by Natalia Osipova, Ivan Vasiliev and Irina Kosheleva respectively.
