Fashionistas are taking a walk on the wild side with surrealist prints that create plenty of drama. The trend has been lingering since the launch of the New York Metropolitan Museum's Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition in May, as well as the relaunch of the House of Schiaparelli. Elsa Schiaparelli, a Paris-based couturier, was a famed rival of Coco Chanel. She rose to fame in the 1960s and '70s, and was known for her cool collaborations with such artists as Salvador Dali that merged fashion and surrealism. For autumn, designers are paying tribute to some of her most famous designs with motifs such as hands (right), lips, clocks and eyes gracing accessories and ready- to-wear (as spotted at Diane von Furstenberg). This is one trend that's not for wallflowers.

Make a statement with Solange Azagury Partridge's hot lips ring (above, HK$11,200) made from silver and enamel. Another great conversation piece is Butler & Wilson's eye brooch (right) with a crystal teardrop (from On Pedder, inquiries: 2118 3470).

Choose styles that are whimsical yet also elegant, such as Diane von Furstenberg's Face Circle Box Clutch (left, HK$8,900). This limited-edition clutch is handcrafted in Italy and features eyes and lips embellished with beads and crystals.

Go for playful accessories such as Charlotte Olympia's Over the Moon pumps in silver and yellow leather and suede (left, HK$6,400 from On Pedder).
