World Vision Hong Kong is holding a charity book sale to raise money to improve educational facilities for less fortunate children. Every dollar spent at the Used Book Recycling Campaign will be donated to build a new school in Shaanxi province to house more than 1,400 students and teachers.

'The schoolchildren in Koujiahe Secondary School are learning in cramped classrooms with insufficient facilities,' said World Vision's Zoe Chan. 'This will affect their achievements. Your contribution could help the students to learn in a better environment.'

World Vision hopes to raise HK$2 million from the sale of more than 350,000 books. They include textbooks, novels and reference books at prices as low as HK$5.

The charity sale is taking place at Plaza Hollywood in Diamond Hill from now until August 8, and at tmtplaza in Tuen Mun from August 10 to 16.
