At Beetle launch, Andy Hui swerves around issue of whether he's popped the question to Cheng
Since Canto-pop singers Sammi Cheng Sau-man and Andy Hui Chi-on rekindled their romance last year after an almost eight-year hiatus, there have been constant rumours about them finally tying the knot.
While Hui was helping to promote German carmaker Volkswagen's new Beetle on Friday at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, he denied the latest speculation that they planned to wed in Tokyo in October.
Hui said all the rumours about him and Cheng used to surprise him, but there had been so many that they now just left him numb. Plus, in October he'll be busy preparing for concerts next year.
The singer said the Beetle had been his dream car when he was a boy. He joined the carmaker's Hong Kong managing director, Thorsten Jaede, to unveil the new model, which features a more fuel-efficient design and modified interior that is 'bolder, more dynamic and masculine ', according to Jaede.
More than 700 guests turned up to see the new car. The party heated up when Hui took to the stage and performed a few of his hits.
