Lewis to run in '96

CARL Lewis, one of the most celebrated US athletes in track and field history, has announced his intention to participate in the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Lewis, speaking on The Pete Rose Show on the Sports Fan Radio Network, said that he plans to participate in the long jump and and the 4 x 100-metre relay in Atlanta.

Lewis, who has won the Olympic gold medal in the 100-metre race twice, said that he does not intend to compete in that event this time.
