See Song & Sons knows it takes more than size to earn loyal customers in the competitive civil engineering, marine and dredging contracting industry. Spearheading many of Malaysia's projects for more than 50 years, the homegrown family-owned company has proven that reliability remains key to its growing business.

"Our strength is in our ability to deliver on our clients' expectations. Doing such with consistency, precision and best price makes them come back to us year after year," says managing director See Kim Boon. "We have preserved a solid track record since my father started the company in 1961, and we will continue to do so as we target sustainable growth."

From a small contracting company servicing Malaysia's Department of Irrigation and Drainage, See Song & Sons has expanded to marine, dredging, reclamation and other civil engineering works. With its own fleet of vessels and equipment, it offers feasible solutions at competitive prices and optional charter services to its clients.

The company's expertise extends to environment-conscious turnkey and design projects, as exemplified in its slope protection and shoreline repair works at Rebak Marina Resort and harbour development and dredging at Kuantan Port. Customers range from public institutions and government-linked companies to private multinationals such as Shell and Esso, which have been working closely with See Song & Sons for more than a decade.

Looking ahead, See Song & Sons eyes the growing marine construction opportunities in Indonesia. The company welcomes like-minded and complementary local and overseas partners, particularly Chinese companies that are exploring the Malaysian market.

"We source much of our equipment and supplies from China, and know bigger players there which we look forward to working with in the future," See says. "We are seeking the right opportunities where they could join us and together be able to undertake larger projects in Malaysia and Indonesia."
