Taiwan's largest press machine manufacturer and among the world's top-five players in the industry, Chin Fong Machine Industrial is set to broaden its presence on the mainland. Driven by the consumer electronics, communications and computer industries, the company's growth in the region is expected to be further fuelled by the booming automobile segment.

"China produced more than 18 million cars in 2010 and is forecast to push its output to 30 million in 2015. We look forward to taking part in this tremendous growth," says Chin Fong president Jack Chao. "China's manufacturing sector is now moving from low-end traditional equipment towards the mid-range and high-end, in which Chin Fong specialises. This is exactly how we are able to add value and contribute to the development of China's manufacturing sector."

Greater China accounts for about 60 per cent of Chin Fong's operations. These are supported by the company's headquarters and factory in Changhua, Taiwan, two factories in Ningbo, Zhejiang and 19 service locations throughout the mainland.

Focusing mainly on press machines for vehicle manufacturers, Chin Fong built a new plant in Jiangsu, which will begin operations by the end of this year. Noting the rapid development of the mainland's high-speed rail network, it also plans to extend its presence in other key locations.

The company's comprehensive portfolio includes fully automatic tandem press lines, forging presses and stamping presses, with more than 140 patents. "Our mission is to provide high-end technologies and offer global customers not only better products but also better services in the industry," Chao says. "We supply one-stop complete procurement solutions that address our clients' pricing, technology and functionality requirements."

Chin Fong attributes its 64-year success to three major competencies: powerful manufacturing abilities, in-house research and development (R&D) and its early entry into the international market. The company also takes pride in its strategic and technological alliances with equally strong partners such as Japan's Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries and Yamada Dobby, and the mainland's Beijing Research Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Technology.
