CHINA's expanding state-owned shipbuilding industry reported record profits last year as overseas orders rose 40 per cent from a year earlier to include markets in Japan and South Korea, the China Daily said yesterday.

The China State Shipbuilding Corporation built vessels valued at 14 per cent more than 1993, the report said.
