THE talented but temperamental Super Fit pulled away from some quality Class One performers to take the first of eight barrier trials run on the grass at Sha Tin yesterday.

Last season's Derby winner, trained by Lawrie Fownes, disputed the lead during the early stages with John Moore's champion sprinter, Happy Money.

The two were some three lengths clear halfway down the 1,000-metre chute with Super Fit drawing clear as his rider pushed him out to the line.

He answered every question asked of him and remains a force to be reckoned with in the top Class One events during the second half of the season.

Happy Money was not required to run home strongly to the line. He was eased down in the closing stages.

David Oughton's progressive Jade Age, Ivan Allan's determined stayer, Sterling Town and Neville Begg's former International Bowl hero, Winning Partners, all went well behind the first two home.

The David Hill-trained Top-Worth confirmed that he is improving all the time when finishing all over the top of his rivals to take the second trial from Gints To Win.
