A HONG KONG delegation, led by Director-General of Trade Tony Miller, will join the first senior officials' meeting of the seventh ministerial meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum in Japan.

The first senior officials meeting, chaired by the Japanese host, will be held in Fukuoka from Monday to Wednesday.

It will discuss a number of co-operation issues and also initiate work on how to achieve free trade by the year 2020 as agreed at the APEC leaders' meeting held in Indonesia, in November last year.

Following the first meeting, a special session for senior officials is scheduled on Thursday to discuss the action programme on liberalisation and facilitation of trade and investment in the run-up to 2020.
