ON the occasion of the inauguration of the Gamma Unit Centre, I extend my very best wishes for the introduction of an outstanding neuro-surgical technique to the benefit of Hong Kong's community.

I am proud to say that the development of the Gamma knife for non-invasive brain surgery represents a landmark in Swedish medical research. It certainly is gratifying to see again that this advanced technology, based on the breathtaking scientific achievements of the the late professor Lars Leksell, of Sweden, responds to the highest universal demands.

Though a layman, I am convinced that the Gamma Unit Centre is extremely well-prepared to provide the community with a mode of medical treatment which is unequalled of its kind.
