Trusted by some of the world's most popular fashion labels, Danliris is one of Indonesia's largest integrated textile manufacturers. Danliris produces finished garments and fabrics for international brands such as Marks & Spencer, Tommy Hilfiger and DKNY.

Even with its drive to modernise its operations, the family-owned company remains true to tradition. "I plan to make Danliris more modern, yet still culturally rooted," says president Michelle Tjokrosaputro.

The company began its operations in handprinted batik and grew over the past 34 years to include spinning cotton and polyester yarn. It also weaves greige and produces printed tetron cotton, chief value cotton and 100 per cent cotton.

Danliris has a dedicated laboratory and facilities for Marks & Spencer's high-end line. It also produces a variety of garments for Tokai Senko, such as kids' apparel, ladies' blouses and even yukata.

The company's ability to diversify its business into menswear, ladies wear and school wear allows it to cater to customers ranging from corporations to more than 50 schools in Britain and Australia. The company exports to 20 countries in Asia, Europe, North America and South Africa.

Recognising its people as the foundation of its success, Danliris has cultivated a thriving community in its sprawling factory complex based on transparency and a genuine concern for its employees. Most of Danliris' 11,500-strong workforce has been with the company for about 15 years. Benefits include free family health care. The company also lobbies effectively on its employees' behalf with the government.

Danliris' corporate social responsibility efforts extend to the environment. Its waste management systems have earned a blue rating - the highest from the government's Program for Pollution Control, Evaluation and Rating.

Danliris values the safety and comfort of its workforce by overseeing working conditions and implementing ISO-certified production processes. Engineers and quality control experts maximise production with minimum effort during procedures such as cutting and sewing.

This preparation and attention to detail enables Danliris to readily meet customers' specific needs, including the demands of the most discerning clients. These clients require careful handling of their products and equitable treatment of the workers involved.

Danliris welcomes additions to its growing family of partners and clients that can benefit from its production capacity and strong local relationships. "We make sure we understand what our buyers need, and that we're open to communication," Tjokrosaputro says. "It's more than just a product. When you come to us, we want you to be our family."
