South Korea bid for the 2002 World Cup

SOUTH Korea confirmed its desire to host the 2002 World Cup when top officials hand-delivered the official bid to the FIFA headquarters in Zurich yesterday.


Song Young-shik, secretary general of the Korean Bidding Committee, and Kang Dae-wan, Korean ambassador to Switzerland, handed the written confirmation of the bid to FIFA Secretary-General Sepp Blatter.


Japan and Mexico also want to stage the money-spinning finals.
