AN Afghan Shi'ite Muslim faction under attack from government forces fired rockets into Kabul last night, killing more than 30 people and wounding about 90 others.

Earlier, the Shi'ite Hezb-i-Wahdat faction threatened to launch Scud missiles against government troops unless they stop their two-day-old assault on its enclave in the southwest of the Afghan capital.

Of the 30 people killed during rocket attacks, 25 had died in the same place, the official Kabul Radio reported.
