Praising mothers who persevere

HAVE some people become so 'sophisticated' that they get offended by the sight of breast-feeding mothers? What is more brazen than wearing very short skirts in the dead of winter and canoodling with boyfriends in MTR stations - two things popular with, in the main, local Chinese women? I'm sure those helpless mothers, referred to as 'mostly expatriate' by one 'Name and Address Supplied' (South China Morning Post, March 2), would prefer to breast-feed their babies in the privacy of their homes or cars (if they had a car).

The problem arises when they cannot hush a hungry child while travelling in public transport.

I have a high regard for breast-feeding mothers who persevere despite continuous harassment from ignorant and hardened individuals.

These mothers believe that babies who feed on their mother's milk almost always grow up to be secure, happy and sympathetic human beings.
